I just received my copy of Food for Thought, the official newsletter of Meals on Wheels of Chester County, Inc. I am a Meals on Wheels volunteer delivery person and Co-Chairman of the Goshen Towne Chapter of Meals on Wheels. The New Vision Statement speaks to my heart.
To provide a nutritionally balanced meal, warm conversation and regular saftey checks to every home-bound Chester County resident in need.
I get a lot of enjoyment out of the time I spend delivering Meals on Wheels. It's my pleasure to share a smile, sometimes a hug, usually a chuckle, with some of the recipients of Meals on Wheels. In the newsletter I learned that the senior population in our area is growing. It's grown 12% in Chester County last year. An increase in the senior population equals an increased need for volunteers. Many chapters have enough volunteers, some do not. If you have a spare 2 hours a week and would like to make a difference in someones life, call Meals on Wheels of Chester County. 610-430-8500. They are also on the web www.mowcc.org.
In addition to the New Vision Statement, there is a new Mission Statement.
Locate and reach out to all home-bound residents in Chester County with a nutritionally balanced meal five days a week and increase the number of volunteers to accommodate the growing senior population.
Last year in Chester County, 61,921 meals were served to 612 persons. 92% of these recipients were over 60 years old! Add your warm smile to a hot meal and make the day a little brighter for someone. Call Meals on Wheels today.
